Endangered Insects

This workshop examines some of Australia’s rare and endangered insects such as the Richmond Birdwing Butterfly, the Lord Howe Island Stick Insect, Illidge’s Ant Blue Butterfly and the Australian Fritillary.

Students will learn about the factors responsible for the decline of these insects and brainstorm ways to aid in the conservation of threatened species, both as individuals and as a community.  They will also have the special treat of seeing actual static specimens of these incredibly rare insects.  As part of this workshop, your school will receive a special grower’s permit and a host vine for the Richmond Birdwing butterfly, as well as information on how to join Recovery Networks and participate in community projects.

This is an excellent workshop for any students interested in conservation, the environment and endangered organisms.
